Hi, My name is Makita (a compound of mama Akita), and I was lucky enough to be rescued by some moms that saw that I was pregnant and about ready to have my puppies - so they brought me to this rescue. They had fed me all through out my pregnancy so all my puppies came out like little chunky monkeys! I had 6 puppies 34 hours after being rescued. All of my pups look like me or Akita coloring. They have web toes like me so they have Lab in them too. The pups went up for adoption 12/13 and you can put an application for us at anytime to get pre-approved. My adoption fee is $50.
My update: I am much more trusting of people and I love to play with some dogs, if they are too small it would not be a good fit. But my favorite friend is only 25 lbs. and we run and play all day. I do have a limp from most likely having Lyme when i was out on my own, as my x-ray didn't show anything that was broken. My limp comes and goes and comes out mroe when it has been cold or chilly. I have some very cheap meds that are given to me that can be bought over the counter. I need a home that would let me have my own little spot in the house, as if I feel I have to stay outside too much it scares me. I am not overly barky, but have a good size bark that  makes me sound like a great watch dog. But please do not pick me just for that... please find it in your heart to realise  I have come a really, really long way and would make a great family member in the right household I am a very special placement.... but I know that there is a vaery special family for me too.  I would need a home check because I would have to be taken there personally... yes I am indeed a a real rescue! When I am happy I smile and when I am scared or sad I wear those emotions on my face as well. It really just takes a bit of time to win me over and a bit more time for me to trust you...but my foster mom gives me kisses on my face and always loves me through my scared times. I may growl at first when i meet new people...but I have never been  anything but sweet to the moms that rescued me... to the foster mom that helped whelp my pups, the foster home where my pups and I were for 8 weeks, my new foster home now. But I really need a forever home for ever and ever!
I have been given all my age appropriate vaccinations, and if I am a puppy, I have been Parvo tested too, also my alter fee (at our vet) is included in the adoption, I have my very own tag and have been treated with Frontline for fleas & ticks. Thanks soooo much for making adoption your first option - so many of my buddies need to get adopted too... so tell a friend to visit our website and help in the goal to have less puppies have a terrible fate.
