About Charity
Status: Adopted!
Adoption Fee: $350
Species: Dog
Current Size: 1 Pounds
Current Age: 15 Years 7 Months (best estimate)
Charity is a female that is lavendar (muted blue) and white, she is 6 weeks in this picture and her personality has become even more outgoing at 7 weeks. She is not available until she is 9 weeks, but we are taking applications. She appears to be quite small and may be the size of her mom which ws under 5 lbs. This litter of gorgeous, 'rare exotic' Chihuahua purebred puppies came to our rescue when their mom was diagonsed with eclampsia at the emergency vet and could not nurse them. We have been bottle feeding them (and altnating putting 2 of them with the Terri-chi mom) since they were 2 days old. Their foster moms have put a lot of love and handling into this adorable litter. Bottlefeeds are at risk their first 2 wks. especially, but at least this litter was able to get their colostrum the first 48 hours of their lives and later be put with a nursing mom occasionally. In order to bottle feed this tiny of a pup, we had to give them milk every 2 hrs for about 3 weeks while their stomachs were so small. They have been wormed, and given their first series of puppy shots and they will go with an appt. to alter them as well. At 7 weeks none of them are even 2 lbs. yet and of course they will not be ready to adopt until 9 weeks (we want to keep them an extra week because of their size and to give them an extra vaccinationn to protect them). Chihuahuas are so special and many families in our area have Chihuahuas in homes with small shildren. We see many and take in and help with expensive vet bills for the ones that get injured in these situations, so please do not fill out an application if you have small children. We do have other larger puppies or dogs that would be better with kids under 6 years old. Thank you for considering a rescued pet, if you are interested in adopting a puppy please fill out our application, a volunteer will get back to you by phone or email or both.
